the numbers are just the type and model/style number used by company to sort tham out and make you think one is better than the other. When I worked at Foot Locker, we learned all the New Balances are the same, just a different style.
any new balance running shoes are ehh at best. try looking into asics. i have bad knees and asics gel shoes offer a lot of support. or go to your local sporting goods store and ask them for recommendations on a good shoe.
